Denim Shorts

As I get older, denim bootie shorts become more and more inappropriate. Still, denim shorts will always be an oldie but goodie in my closet. Thus, I opted for the age appropriate longer denim short. I like the chilled style, yet it's still fashion forward. Remember, when going for the longer short, SKY HIGH heels are a must, otherwise you just look you're about to go wading in a kiddie pool.

Greys & Pearls

One of my favorite colors is grey...and my favorite jewelery includes pearls. When you put the components of shades of grey and pearls together, it makes for a very elegant yet stylish look. Most of all, grey and pearls should be the building blocks to every fashionista's wardrobe!

Keep Calm and Carry On

Just to give a little background, this slogan was first used in the second world war to raise the morale of the british public. I'm not usually the graphic tee type of girl because they may come off as a bit juvenile. However, there are those bananarama days at the office that warrant some words of encouragement.

Size ain't nothing but a number

Most of the time, we determine which top/bottom to purchase by the size it states on the inside tag. Often, many companies will have "vanity sizing" to make their customers feel better about themselves. That makes shopping online a real nightmare. How do we know that we're buying the right size for ourselves..especially if we can't try it on?
The blouse I am wearing today is a size 10! T-E-N! Can you believe it? So, the next time you go shopping, (esp. outlet shopping) don't bypass a cute garment just because the size "doesn't fit".

Polka Dots

In addition to stripes, my other favorite all over print is the polka dot. There's just somthing so whimsical about them. In keeping with all things whimsical, I love my new cellphone case. Aren't the hot pink bunny ears just hilarious?

Tweed

When I think of tweed jackets the brand that comes to my mind instantly is CHANEL! I love how they are so classic. Karl is able to keep with the traditions but, design with a modern flare. No, this jacket is not Chanel, but a brand know for their puffers...MONCLER! I had never paid attention to their RTW line. Then again, I don't usually pick clothing solely on the label. The bubbly silhouette and black and white tweed gave me the "I die" moment and I was sold.

Statement Piece

I think that a good statement piece can turn any ho-hum outfit into an AMAZING one. For me, the "Devil's in the details"...this means that it's the little things that really make a difference. When I look around at street fashion as well as those in the glossies, most of the time, it's the simple outfits with a slight twist that makes me stop and take a second look.

Chic Chinos

Chinos are a must as a closet staple for every woman....AND man. With that being said, sometimes chinos can end up looking "masculine" or even frumpy if you don't get the right cut for your body or style it with some feminine touches. I usually go for the skinnier cut to accentuate my legs. Chinos give my outfits a rugged look...BUT, throw on some high heeled peep-toe booties with it...VOILA! Chic Chinos!

Nubby Knits

There's nothing like a big chunky sweater vest to make you feel nice and cozy. I really like this vest in particular because of the technique in which it was knit. From afar, it looks like I could potentially be wearing fur. But up close you can see that the yarn is twisted, creating a "fur-like" effect. It almost reminds me of sheep's fur...and I think sheep are just adorable!

Zig Zag

One of the things that I rationalize to myself when purchasing an "investment piece" is visualizing how many ways I can wear it. This piece in particular is actually a button up dress. It's quite a statement piece because of the colorful zig zags. But, it's something I would normally wear to work because for me the silhouette is on the more conservative side. On the weekends though, I usually wear it as a jacket. I like giving it a more casual vibe by throwing it over t-shirt and jeans. It makes me feel like a Missoni Superwoman.

Orange & Chambray

Inspired by all the insanely colorful clothing that we're seeing in the market, I decided to dig out my super bright orange cashmere dress. It's such a beautiful color, but after many failed attempts for an acceptable pairing...I finally found a wearable outfit that wouldn't make me look like a Halloween pumpkin. The Chambray skirt gives some texture as well as offer some relief from the uber bold color.

Being that it was quite the cold and gloomy day, I decided to get bundled up in somthing warmer. It's really a wonder that such a small fur vest would keep me as warm as it does. It also makes me think that whenever I put mei in a sweater, tee, or puffy jacket....she must be burning up. :)
